Ryan Lindsey LICSW, SUDP

Founder, Therapist and Supervisor

I am a father, a husband, Lakota, gay, cisgender, an advocate for the immense power of beauty, a believer in the strength of the human spirit, and a person committed to doing my part to help make our world a better place.

I started my journey in a tiny town in Arkansas, a place not particularly suited for who I was. I learned a lot about adversity. I completed my undergraduate studies at Northeastern University in Boston, where I studied political science, and I received my Master of Social Work in 2015 from Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work in New York City. I moved to Washington shortly after completing my MSW and practiced clinical social work for six years at Sound, where I focused on substance use and cooccurring disorders until becoming a clinical supervisor.

My experiences from places so varied - Arkansas, Boston, New York City, and the Seattle area - have given me strong insight into the wide array of challenges people may face. I truly believe it is our journeys that define us, and it is along those journeys we find our joys and face our fears.

I know well what it means to live in depression, to find oneself spiraling out of control and into mania, to attempt self-defeating “self-medicating,” and to eventually look around at a life in tatters. These experiences make me a stronger, more empathetic therapist, and I know I have been tremendously lucky to discover and be able to pursue my passions – to find true meaning in how I move through the world. I want to help others do the same.
